I'M MOVING! -- UMZUG!

Hey Everyone!

I've planned to move to Wordpress for a while now, but as you may have noticed I've been way to busy to accomplish that. I'm still super busy, especially with my last exam coming up in two weeks, but I just can't wait any longer. Which is why I'm going to move bit by bit, so you probably won't see any new posts here anymore and during the first month(s) still not all the post over at Wordpress. I'd like to apologize in advance!

You can now find me over at:

www.dreaminginlibraries.wordpress.com

I hope to see you there!!

Kim xx

www.dreaminginlibraries.wordpress.com

Absence/Abwesenheit

Hey Everyone!

You might have noticed that it's gotten a bit quiet here and I'm afraid that it'll continue for at least another month. I'm not happy about it, but you know, sometimes life just gets in the way.
Until this week I've had to study A LOT and write a few exams, but I'm happy to say that I've passed them all - even maths :-)! So my term is officially over and usually I'd be on vacations now, but I've got to do an internship for the next three weeks and since it's not in the town I live in, I probably won't have internet access. So there won't be any new blog posts during March, but I hope to be back in April!

Hope to see you then!
Yours Kim

PD. I also still plan on moving to Wordpress, but that'll have to wait until April, too...

Truthwitch Read-Along Discussion Week #3

Week 3 Discussion Questions

Question #1: A huge part of the story takes place on the sea. Do you love the ocean? Would you like to travel with the crew on the Jana? Or do you think you'd get seasick?

I love the ocean and I love to be on a ship, so I'd totally love to travel with the crew on the Jana! I would even accept the rough conditions onboard, as long as I could stay there with Merik :-D... Since I've been onboard a research vessel for almost a month, I know that I don't get seasick which I'm truely glad about, because being seasick is the worst!

Question #2: From the boys we've met so far - Merik, Aeduan, Kullen, Leopold - who would you choose to be your book boyfriend? OR: From the girls we've met so far - Safiya, Iseult, Evrane, Ryber - who would you choose to be your book girlfriend?

Definitely Merik!! I've fallen for him the second we met him in the book and I still love him most. He's handsome, impulsive, caring and trying to do everything right.

Question #3: Did you imagine the sea foxes as described in the book? Do you think they'll play a greater part later in the series?

I've thought about how sea foxes would look like before starting the book, but to be honest I thought they'd look quite differently. Then again the description in the book fits the name "sea fox" itself so much better, so I'm very intrigued by what kind of role they will play later in the series.

Question #4: What is your first impression of Nubrevna?

Seeing Nubrevna for the first time was quite sad. I imagine that it was once a beautiful country, but right now Nubrevna is a very poor and lost its colour. I do hope that this might change for the better during the series.

CHARACTER SPOTLIGHT: MERIK  |  "Whenever there were wrinkles, Merik had to smooth them out." (p. 205) Do you think he succeeds in "smoothing the wrinkles out"? What do you think of his actions so far? Do you like Merik?

Well, I don't think that he always succeeds right away, but at least he's trying. Even though sometimes he's a bit stubborn to stick with his plan, in the end he'll do what's the right thing to do. Merik might be a bit impulsive, but he's genuinely interested in keeping his crew safe. I like Merik very much. He is one of my favourite characters of the whole book and I can't wait for book #2, since "Windwitch" is obviously a lot about him :-)!

Cover Reveal: Born To Die by Winter Austin

Cover reveals are exciting, right? I've got a pretty cover for you today and I'm happy to be part of this reveal! Without further ado here's the cover of "Born To Die" by Winter Austin:

About the Book:

"Trouble’s on the run in rural Eider, Iowa, and Deputy Cassy Rivers’s heart is in the line of fire. Two years ago, she barely escaped a harrowing experience at the hands of a maniac—and not without scars. Now a series of random robberies leads to the brutal death of a fellow officer, and she must put her trust in the one man who broke her heart.

FBI agent Boyce Hunt knows commitment isn’t for men with pasts like his. He left Cassy once to protect her from the blackmail and manipulation he faces from his mother’s criminal enterprise. But when they reluctantly partner up to capture the modern Bonnie and Clyde terrorizing McIntire County, their attraction flames to life once more, pulling Boyce between two loyalties.

Will they risk their hearts again, even if it means losing everything?"

About the Author:

Winter Austin perpetually answers the question: “were you born in the winter?” with a flat “nope.” Having returned to her hometown, Winter has stepped into the chaotic world of a full-time wife, mom, author, and employee.

A lifelong Mid-West gal, Winter rediscovered her love of her beloved Iowa with its hot summers and snowy winters. She grew up listening to the captivating stories told by relatives around the table or a campfire. Since becoming a published author, she learned a mindset of a glass half-empty personality makes for a perfect suspense/thriller author. Taking her ability to verbally spin a vivid and detailed story, Winter translated that into writing deadly romantic thrillers. Combining her love of all things rural, agricultural, and military, she’s turned her small town life upside down.

Truthwitch Read-Along Discussion Week #2

It's week #2 which means it's time for discussion #2! Just as a reminder, here's the schedule once again:

Week 2 Discussion Questions

Of the lands that we have visited so far in the book, where in the Witchlands would you want to live, given the choice?

I think I have to cheat here... because I LOVE Nubrevna! I know those of you who aren't that far into the book, haven't been there yet, but I love it too much to pick another place. If I had to, though, I'd maybe pick the sea? I love ships and I love water, so obviously I love that they're on a ship for quite a while!

There have been quite a few mottos and words of wisdom used by a few of the characters so far. Which one is your favourite? Do you have any special phrases that help you get through your day?

Even though Iseult isn't my favourite character, I love her motto: "Stasis in your fingertips and in your toes!" It's always good to keep a clear head and this phrase has something relaxing.
I don't really have any special phrase myself. I like the phrase "Such is life", though. I like to believe that when something doesn't happen as it ought to that maybe it just wasn't meant to be and that something good will follow.

Friendship is a main theme that pulses through Truthwitch. Do you have a relationship like Safi and Iseult? Is there someone out there who always has your back and will defend you?

I think the relationship with my boyfriend is similar. He's not only my boyfriend, but my best friend, too, who's always there for me!
I also think that if Shanna and I would live in the same city, our friendship might be even more amazing than it is yet.

If you were inserted into one of the novel's epic battle scenes, which witchery would you like to have in order to defend yourself?

Hm, this is a tough question. I think the air witchery comes in pretty handy, as you could either fly away or take someone's breath. So this witchery would be very useful.

Character Spotlight: Iseult |  Do you find Iseult to be a likeable character? How do you feel about the way she is treated as an outcast? Do you think she is a good influence on Safiya?

To be honest, at first I didn't like Iseult too much. She was very different and I had to get used to it. But she definitely grew on me and after some chapters I began to like her. So yes, she's definitely a likable character!
It's never fair to be treated as an outcast, so, of course, I'm not happy about it. On the other hand it might be lucky for Iseult, because she had to stay away from the tribe and find a new life.
Iseult is probably the best influence Safi has!

Rezension: Dark Elements #2 - Jennifer L. Armentrout

Klappentext

Rezension
